About barcode scanners in general

Barcode symbols cannot be read.

Please check the following details.

  • Are the symbol settings correct?
    If a setting is made to limit the number of symbols or digits supported, symbols outside the setting cannot be read. Check that the symbol system and number of digits are set correctly.
  • Is the scanning distance sufficient?
    If the printing/marking quality is poor, the reading position may not be readable even if it is within the specification range. In such cases, please consult our sales representatives.
  • Is the scanning window dirty?
    If the reading window is dirty, the illumination will be dimmed and the captured image will be deformed or dark. If it is dirty, clean it with a lens cleaner or similar.
  • Is the symbol of good quality?For 2D codes, check that the cell layout, cell size, etc. conform to the standard. Non-standard symbols, such as those with light print density, chips or smudges, may not be readable.

About handheld barcode scanners

The read data is not correctly transferred to the PC.

Check the communication settings (virtual COM or USB HID mode).

■ For USB virtual COM specifications

For virtual COM, install the driver and check that the COM port is detected in Device Manager. Specify the appropriate COM port in the communication software.

In the case of HID, this can be improved by setting a longer data transmission interval.

Barcode symbols are not readable.

Please check the following details.

  • Read the barcode menu to find the setting that reads your code.
  • Read the code while changing the reading distance and angle for auto-gain.
  • Press the trigger and check that the LED lights up.
  • Difference between virtual COM or HID (for virtual COM, install the driver).
I want to connect my handheld (hand-held) barcode scanner to an app such as 3150Term or TECT.

Data is not sent to the PLC via the PLC link. (In case of RS-232C specification)
  • Check the target PLC and make various settings according to the PLC Link Connection Manual.
  • Check the pin layout of the RS-232C connector according to the PLC Link Connection Manual and prepare a conversion cable if necessary.
I want to output double-byte characters on the MCR-H200.

Make sure that the firmware is MCR-H200 V1.7.1 or later.

  • For firmware updates, read the barcode menu to enable Shift-JIS. (However, it must be v1.7.1 or higher.) Also, check that the host side supports Shift-JIS.
BLUETOOTH-compatible devices cannot be connected to the TMA-6000.

You may be paired with another TMA-6000. Try reading the disconnect menu once to unpair, and then read the connection label of the TMA-6000 you want to connect to again.

About fixed code readers (2D codes)

The code reader cannot connect to the configuration tool over a LAN.

Match the IP address (IPv4) of the PC with the IP address of the code reader. The fourth octet must not be duplicated.

Unable to communicate via PLC link (RS232C).
  • Please check the wiring connection with the PLC main unit or communication unit. Refer to the PLC link connection manual, section 9 “Connection of Reader PLC”. Short-circuit processing of CS-RS or ER-DR is also required.
  • Do the baud rate and frame configuration of the reader and PLC match?

Can the reading range be adjusted?

The reading range of the built-in lens types cannot be changed, except for the MCR-F1000 and MCR-F530. For C-mount types (MCR-F600, MVF-500C), lens selection and focus can be changed. For reading range, refer to the instruction manual for each model.

About RFID reader/writers (MRU/FRU series)

Can data be imported?

Can be imported. Set the trigger method to Digital Input Trigger in the PLC mode setting screen.

What is the transmission format of the read data?

MRU-F5xxx Configuration System Reference Manual – 9. Transmission format.

What are the antenna settings in manual mode?

Operates with the value specified in MRU-F5XXX Series Command Communication Specification – 5.23 SetAntConf. If the value is not specified in the SetAntConf command, it operates with the value set in the “Continuous mode” of the web setting screen.

About the product in general/other products

I don’t know how to connect the PLC.

A configuration reference manual and a PLC connection manual are available for reference.

Data from the reader/writer cannot be successfully received at a higher level.
